Arrival in Colombo International Airport and meet with our representative
Transfer to Colombo – 1 hour drive approximately

Day 02 Colombo

Spend the morning at leisure at the Hotel
Colombo by Jeep afternoon (3 PM) tour of Colombo city covering historical colonial era British built buildings, a Buddhist temple and Pettah market in vintage open top jeeps

Day 03 Colombo / Habarana

Transfer to Habarana – 4 to 5 hours drive
On your way, you’ll stop by the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage to get your first introduction to Sri Lanka’s most celebrated inhabitants. Leave early to catch sight of the elephants’ feeding.
After your visit to Pinnawela, continue to your hotel in Habarana, check-in and enjoy some down time.
Evening climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Sigiriya Rock Fortress was built by King Kashyapa in the 5th century.
Today you can witness the ruins of his castle on top of Sigiriya Rock, Swimming pools, ponds and gardens dotted with many ponds. This is an architectural marvel and one of the most photographed monuments

Day 04 Habarana

Take walk in a typical village near Sigiriya to photograph local village life, lakes, paddy fields, farming fields and village vendors. This is near Sigiriya Rock Fortress. We also go to ancient rock monastery of Pidurangala too.
Enjoy some chilled beer munching deep fried lake fish and home cooked rice and curry lunch
In the afternoon transfer to Polonnaruwa – 1 ½ hours drive approximately
Visit Polonnaruwa, a UNESCO world heritage site. The second most ancient of Sri Lanka’s kingdoms which is now ruined and included many palaces and temples

Day 05 Habarana

Transfer to Anuradhapura – 1 ½ hours drive approximately
Explore the most important ancient capital of Sri Lanka, Anuradhapura. An UNESCO world heritage site once powerhouse of Sri Lankan ancient kingdoms, famous for its well-preserved ruins of ancient Sri Lankan civilization
Afternoon safari in Minneriya National Park from 3 to 6 Pm to see wild Elephants

Day 06 Habarana / Dambulla / Kandy

Visit another UNESCO World Heritage site of Dambulla Cave Temple, inhabited from 1st Century this largest cave complex is the best preserved cave in Sri Lanka. There are nearly 80 recoded caves in this complex but main attractions are in 5 caves where ancient paintings of Lord Buddha’s life are artistically painted.
Transfer to Kandy – 2 hours drive approximately. Kandy is the most venerated and visited city of Sri Lanka as it houses Lord Buddha’s tooth relic in Kandy Royal Palace, now a temple. Kandy is know the as the capitol of hill country of Sri Lanka.

Day 07 Kandy

Morning visit to Kandy Temple of Tooth relic of Lord Buddha during the morning sermon
Peradeniya Botanical Garden, Gem museum,
Visit a typical market in Kandy to source ingredients for a meal and take part in cooking a traditional Sri Lankan rice and curry meal

Day 08 Kandy / Nuwaraeliya

Get on board the scenic train to Ella from Kandy at 8.30 AM. This is a very scenic train route where you could photograph the moving locomotive through tea plantation, villages and forests. The railway line was built by British’s during their colonial days to transport tea harvest to Colombo Port. We suggest you take the 2nd class (non AC) tickets to better experience an authentic train journey. Train is expected to arrive in Ella by 3.15 PM
You will be met by our representative in Ella train station and transfer to Nuwara Eliya – 1 ½ hours drive approximately.

Day 09 Nuwaraeliya / Horton plains / Nuwaraeliya
Leave to Horton Plains National Park at 5 AM with a picnic breakfast – 1 ½ hours drive approximately.
Horton Plains is a very important bio diversity hot spot in Sri Lanka which is very scenic and is vast grassy plains surrounded by a thick sub montane forest (Cloud forest). Horton Plains is also home for scenic Baker’s waterfall. Early morning photos of Samber Deer against a back drop of grassy plains is a nice shot.
Return to Nuwara Eliya
In the afternoon take a walk in Nuwara Eliya town to photograph British built bungalows and buildings in the town, town bazaar and market followed by visit to a Tea estate with a factory tour and tasting pure Ceylon tea.

Day 10 Nuwaraeliya / Yala

Do some bush walks in the late afternoon around Yala Safari Camp bordering Yala National Park and enjoy a sun-downer on a rock cliff overlooking the local jungles sipping local arrack cocktail chased with Ginger Beer

Day 11 Yala
Full Day safari in Yala, Yala is the most popular national park of Sri Lanka due to its increasing Leopard density. Apart from Leopards you can see Elephants, Bears, Spotted Deer, Crocodiles and many verities of birds. Picnic breakfast and lunch will be provided

Day 12 Yala / Galle

Transfer to Galle – 3 to 4 hours drive
Visit The Stilt Fishermen in Galle, age old traditional way of fishing by sitting on a pole fixed to the shallow bottom of the sea where the fishermen sit to make their daily catch.
Do an evening walk in Portuguese built Fortress in 1500’s and it’s ramparts. Galle Fort is now home for many Boutique hotels and this is an architectural masterpiece. You can see many coffee shops, roadside bars, cafes and antique shops.

Day 13 Galle

Take a walk in and outside the Galle Fort on your own to visit Galle Market and street fishermen in Galle and fruit market
Countryside cycling tour of approximately 2 to 3 hours goes at your own pace. Get off the beaten track with an easy 12 km (7.5 miles) ride from approx. 2 ½ to 3 hours (or more) depending on how comfortable you are and how fast you wish to cycle. The tour stays primarily on dirt and gravel tracks and shows you local industries, Lagoon and mangroves, fauna, flora and also meets the local people. You can also witness the process of catching crabs, making rope using coconuts and also visit an old Buddhist temple (built in BC 1794). If you wish to stay away from the touristy areas and experience the lifestyle of the locals while cycling, this is a perfect tour for you!
